BRIDGE REPAIR WILL CLOSE HIGHWAY 6 BETWEEN 4 CORNERS & SWEETWATER

               

The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety has announced repair work on the bridge near Buffalo Creek on State Highway 6 will begin October 7, 2008. Immediately upon completion of the Buffalo Creek Bridge, work will begin on the bride over Starvation Creek on State Highway 6. The construction will take approximately four (4) months to complete. During this time, this section of State Highway 6 will be closed to through traffic and a detour will be in place. This section of construction is between the junction of SH-6 and SH-283 west to the junction of SH-6 and SH-152. 

               

Plains Bridge Contracting of Oklahoma, LLC will replace concrete beams with steel beams and re-deck both bridges. Buffalo Creek was built in 1951 and is being rehabilitated at a cost of $563,304. Starvation Creek bridge, built in 1948, is being rehabilitated at a cost of $701,558.

               

An average of 2,700 vehicles travels this 11-mile segment of SH-6 daily. Detour signs will be in place, directing motorists to take either SH-152 or SH-47.
