Famous Authors Visit Cheyenne Public Schools

            Famous authors Michael Blake and Mary Jane Warde visited Cheyenne Schools last Thursday and presented a program to students during the day and to all area residents that evening. Michael Blake, author of "Dances With Wolves" also was here promoting his newest book "Indian Yell." He was sponsored by the Washita Battlefield National Historic Society and the Western National Park Association on his visit to our area. Also with him was famous author Mary Jane Warde who wrote the historical book "Washita" which is published under the auspices of the Oklahoma Historic Society. She is seen here with Mr. Blake posing for their picture. Also shown is Ms. Wendy Lauritzen, director of the Washita Battlefield National Historic Society and Dave Schafer, who was given the privilege of introducing Mr. Blake. Mr. Blake is seen presenting a copy of his newest book, "Indian Yell", to Mrs. Christine Calvert, CPS librarian. He also donated a copy to be placed in all the area schools libraries that attended this presentation.
