MIKE SCHULZ LAUNCHES SENATE BID; HE WILL ALWAYS STAND WITH WESTERN OKLAHOMA
Altus farmer Mike Schulz announced Friday he will seek the Oklahoma State Senate Seat District 38 recently vacated by the late Bob Kerr.
“I have a heart for western Oklahoma, and like Senator Kerr, I will always stand with the people instead of the politicians at the State Capitol.”
“As a father and farmer, I want to move our state forward, protect our traditional and rural values, and provide abundant opportunities for our young people,” Schulz said.
“My goals include meaningful legal reform, reduced income taxes, the elimination of the death tax and better schools,” Schulz said.
“I am looking to represent this district for the next 12 years because western Oklahoma requires effective leadership leading us into the future.”
Schulz, a third generation Oklahoman who was born in Cheyenne, grows cotton, wheat, and grain sorghum and operates a custom cotton harvesting operation in Altus.
“My conservative Oklahoma values are absolutely in line with the district. I believe in the sanctity of life and second amendment rights,” Schulz said. “when you put that together with my passion for improving western Oklahoma, my ability to lead, and my agricultural background, I’m a perfect fit for our district.”
“I look forward to an aggressive campaign for the upcoming election on April 4th and to listening to the voice of the people throughout the district.”
Schulz, who graduated from Altus High School in 1982 and earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Oklahoma State University in 1986, serves on the boards of the Jackson County Emergency Medical Service and his local Kiwanis Club. Schulz also served on an agriculture advisory committee for former Congressman J.C. Watts.
A certified lay speaker in his church, which he has attended since a young boy, Schulz and his wife, teach Sunday school and have led numerous bible studies. In addition to farming, Schulz works as a field representative for the Oklahoma Farm Bureau.
Schulz and his wife of 15 years, Reenie have two children, Benjamin, 11, and Abby, 9.
