Local Musicians to Appear in Musical Tribute
Mason Congdon, 12 year old son of Ray and Casie Haven of Cheyenne and Chad Congdon of Elk City, will be performing in the up-coming production of "Musical Tribute to Roger Miller." The musical, sponsored by the Roger Miller Museum, is scheduled for Saturday, June 23rd at 7:00pm and Sunday, June 24th at 2:00pm at the Clifford Macklin Auditorium in Erick. Mason will be in the 7th grade next year and is an honor student at Cheyenne Public Schools. He loves to sing and has performed in two Red Carpet Theater plays. Mason will portray a young Roger Miller, and will sing "Kansas City Star" and "Engine, Engine #9"
Megan Matthews of Sayre will be singing two Patsy Cline songs. Meagan has performed in many musical production which include playing the lead character in "Always...Patsy Cline," for the Watonga Community Theater and the Sayre Main Street Players. Patsy Cline and Roger Miller were great friends and when Patsy's plane crashed, Roger Miller was among those who searched for the plane, and was in that group that found the wreckage. Meagan is a 2006 graduate of SWOSU with a degree in vocal performance.
The musical tribute will be narrated by Ransom Snowden. Other performers will be Dr. Trey Cail, State Representative Purcy Walker, Audrey Stephens, Chad Snowden, Chris Francis, and the 100 Proof Country Band.
Tickets are currently on sale at the Roger Miller Museum and First American Bank in Erick, and the Sayre Floral in Sayre. Tickets may be purchased by phone by calling the museum at 580.526.3833 or the bank at 580.526.3332. Prices are $10.00 for adults and $7.50 for children 12 and under.
